Redwoods

While I slept between shifts at my hospital job (more on that later :), Wade and the kids took a field trip to Big Basin Redwoods State Park to have a California Redwoods experience. It was awesome. They loved it!

They did one big loop of a hike (easy for Wade and Trevor, probably seemingly challenging for Mae and Owen, though over before they knew what hit them!). A great day in the great outdoors!

And some acrobatics by Trevor!

Art! and the cutest kids in Sugar City

Mary and Jeff's cute kids always keep their playroom decorated for the season. They use the supplies at hand and draw, color and tape up the cutest scenes! The blue icicles are actually hanging from the ceiling! And projects from school are in the window to welcome visitors. Look how radiant they all are. They appreciate the Christmas season, for sure.
They also seemed to appreciate the lions and tiger--gifts handmade by Mae. It's so fun to be the deliverer of gifts to happy kids. We visited and found out about Lise's recruitment to the big leagues of Eastern Idaho youth basketball and I got an update on sleeping in the fort and all the fun of Christmas vacation. There was some seriously cool Lego building going on, too.
It's always so nice to see Mary and her little clan. Thanks for the smiles and hugs! I love you all!!!

IDAHO!

We had a fabulous time in Idaho! We spent time with Grandpa and Grandma and Paul and Maddie's family. We kicked back, relaxed, ate a lot, and one fine day Wade, Jimmy and Trevor all went skiing at Grand Targhee. What a treat--and what a day.

We had just a skiff of snow in Rexburg, but the kids made a few runs down the hill and that was just great. It's always so nice to visit Rexburg (and Porter's! just ask Mae :)

Speaking of Family :)

Another super fun visit was in Logan with the Reeds. Carol and Shane have such a beautiful, pleasant home. Brandon and Christie are so grown up!

We visited, laughed and ate the yummiest golden oreo mud pie. Trevor and Brandon were a hoot taking photos together. I nearly left my purse (big surprise!), and I think we all wish it could have lasted longer. Carol's recipe web site is a current favorite at thecupcaketheory.com. Anytime I am making anything, I check to see if she has a recipe for it, because then I know it will be amazing. And if I am not sure what to make, I check in to see if there is anything amazing we need to try. Using thecupcaketheory recipes always impresses, let me tell you!

Hopefully we will all get to see each other again soon. Love you, Carol!

Visiting Grandma Beck

While in Salt Lake we stopped by The Emeritus where Grandma is staying. What a lovely visit with her. Wade and I also saw her at the temple for my cousin Marissa's wedding. My dad was the sealer and they were married in the Bountiful Temple. It was a beautiful ceremony and nice to see Rahn and Sue and my cousins Jarom, Erin and Nathan. We visited with Jack Morford, too and it was nice to catch up. Family connections are so important...we love them all.

Winter Fun with the Wilkinsons!

Bountiful Rec center was the neutral location (smashed bumper for the Wilkinson Suburban :( while we skated). Then lunch in Salt Lake. What a great chance to spend time with our friends from Oklahoma City. How nice we have family in Utah and were able to cross paths there this year!
